The Reverend Laura Gronberg

The Rev. Laura A. Gronberg began her ministry at Second Congregational Church of Boxford, United Church of Christ in January of 2010. She serves as the 30th settled pastor of Second Church.

Laura loves being a pastor! She loves the creativity of worship, the joy of children’s messages, the challenge of preaching, the privilege of pastoral care, the blessing of hospital visits, the honor of administering the sacraments, and so much more. She never forgets what a gift it is to do something you love, with people you love, serving a God who is, and always will be, Love.

Before her first call to ordained ministry at Second Church, Laura served as a chaplain at Wayside Hospice in Wayland, MA. She also worked in home care and hospice, caring for those with acute illnesses or chronic diseases with kindness and compassion. Laura received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Religious Studies in 1994 from The College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio. She received her Master of Divinity in May 2008 from Andover Newton Theological School where she was inducted into the Jonathan Edwards Honor Society.

Laura is married to Fred who is an Emergency Care Instructor who works at Beverly Hospital in the Nursing Education Department. They share 5 children, three of whom, Chris, Kim, and Craig, stood among their wedding party at the time Fred and Laura were married. Chris and Craig have since died. Kim and her family live in Harwich, Massachusetts on Cape Cod. Fred and Laura celebrate the gift of being grandparents to the two children that Kim and her husband, Ryan, have.
Together, Fred and Laura have two children. Matthew lives in Austin, Texas and is the co-founder and COO of a successful college student moving and storage company called Storage Scholars. Rachel recently graduated from Davidson College in North Carolina and continues to live and work in the Davidson area.
Laura has been a life-long member of the United Church of Christ, and is the daughter and sister of UCC clergy. Laura was an active member of the Wellesley Congregational Church in Wellesley, Massachusetts before coming to Second Church. It is with deep gratitude that she serves as pastor of our warm and welcoming community of faith.
